Many adult learners come to our classes with reading challenges. These are intensified in our increasingly high-tech world, in which digital media is designed in bite-sized bits of content full of distractions. Fortunately, Chrome offers a variety of free extensions that can easily provide accommodations to developing readers and writers. In this session, participants will learn how to find, select, install and utilize AT Chrome extensions for themselves and their students.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will understand what assistive technology (AT) is and how open access to AT is a crucial part of implementing UDL in the adult education classroom
Participants will identify areas of reading & writing where their students would benefit from AT
Participants will learn a variety of reading & writing AT functions
Participants will learn to search for, vet, and install Chrome extensions that perform those functions
