Teaching Mathematical Inequalities Virtually using Nearpod

Presentation Date: 4/14/2021 at 3:00pm
Duration: 1 Hour

This session will focus on how teachers can balance content and strategies when continuing to instruct adult students even in a virtual learning environment. Participants will explore the use of Nearpod, a free and accessible virtual learning platform, in targeting the advanced level ABE skills and GED® High Impact Indicators involving mathematical inequalities. Participants will be able to learn how to use the full capabilities of Nearpod to maintain student engagement and monitor student understanding during lessons, while reinforcing critical skills in solving inequality problems. With assessments embedded throughout the presentation, participants will gain a student’s perspective which is essential when developing and hosting virtual lessons. After the session, all participants will have 14-day free access to the self-paced virtual lesson in Nearpod, in addition to electronic copies of session handouts and workbook.
