Webinar - High Impact Indicators Across the Content Areas: A Thematic Approach - Part 2 (Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science, and Mathematical
A thematic approach to integrating the high impact indicators for Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA) with the other content areas of Science, Social Studies, and Mathematical Reasoning helps students broaden and deepen their skills. This type of approach enables students to apply important skills in a variety of contexts across all of the content areas covered by the GED® test.
Join us for this two-part webinar as we explore integrating selected RLA high impact indicators with related indicators from other GED® content areas. We will also look at how these indicators align to the College and Career Readiness Standards and the domains and objectives tested on TABE® 11/12. During Part 2, we will demonstrate the relationship of RLA indicators to high impact indicators in Science and Mathematical Reasoning and will include a workbook of activities and resources to use in your classroom.
Building Capacity for Florida ABE to GED Prep Programs for Corrections (Orange County)
The Building Capacity for Florida GED® and ABE Programs initiative is being delivered via regional trainings throughout Florida. This full-day training includes four mini-sessions that integrate materials from the 2018 GEDTS® Summer Institute, as well as research-based materials developed by the institute’s trainers for the purpose of modeling the integration of skills from ABE to GED® Prep Programs. Sessions include a “math grab bag” that provides activities aligned to standards on the TABE 11 and 12, as well as building skills for GED® success. Two sessions focus on language arts skills, such as the conventions of Standard English, sentence structure, beginning writing skills and transitioning writing tasks from ABE to beginning GED® Prep. A session on what’s new in the TABE 11 and 12 and how to integrate these standards into the classroom is also included.
Join the IPDAE Lead Trainers at one of the regional workshops scheduled for this fall. Scripted PowerPoints, teacher guides, ready-to-use activities for the classroom, and an overview of IPDAE materials that align to the standards are provided to each attendee. Don’t miss this event and the opportunity to help “build capacity” in our state through training others and assisting students in achieving their goal of improving their academic skills and successfully passing the GED® test.
