Retention Strategies from Research to Practice
This topic provides an overview of evidence-based practices for program retention/student persistence in adult education and considerations for administrators seeking to improve in this area. We'll view areas important to consider from the research and specific strategies. In addition, we will showcase a district's perspective on these strategies related to barriers and successes in consideration of implementation.



Empowering AE Through Data
Learn ways to maximize your performance data as we look at some key checkpoints in retention and performance along with actions that you can take to positively impact your school performance data. You will learn to identify existing processes and procedures, or lack thereof, which could be sabotaging your efforts at moving your school data needle in a positive direction. We'll explore some procedural actions you can take to manage and use your data to positively drive measurable results.



Strategies to Break Down Barriers Faced by AE Students
Adult learners vary widely among ages, socioeconomic levels, abilities, educational experiences, job skills and personal goals. Some adult learners have special learning needs while others encounter many barriers to school attendance from unclear registration procedures to changes in work schedules. Hear from Adult Education practitioners who work as a team to address the unique needs of the adult learner and address barriers to help them achieve their full potential.

Find out how articulation agreements can be established between adult education providers and local colleges to help students get on a career pathway. We will discuss the importance of outlining the responsibilities needed from each institution to build a solid agreement.



The Power of Apprenticeship Programs
Learn about an alternative career pathway for adult students who can "GET THERE" through an apprenticeship or pre-apprenticeship program. This topic presents a conversation with Ted Norman, FLDOE Director of Apprenticeships and Yolanda Flores, Lorenzo Walker Technical College Administrative Director to learn about the key elements of apprenticeships, funding opportunities and how a local program is using pre-apprenticeships to get adult education students prepared to enter the HVAC/R career certificate or apprenticeship program.
